Abstract :
In the electric power system, the generator is an important component because it is the center of power
generation. If the generator breakdown or failure occurs it will stop the process of distributing electrical
energy and will make a big loss to the system. In generator failure, the main cause that often occurs in the
field is the failure of the stator winding insulation compared to other causes. The generator is in operation,
the generator stator winding experiences various pressures from electrical, thermal and mechanical
pressures which can cause excessive stress on the generator stator. The non-destructive test is an inspection
carried out on the generator during maintenance and calculates the estimated life of the winding insulation
from the results of the inspection carried out using the D - map method. The results of the Non-destructive
test carried out isolation of each phase showed the insulation was still in good condition, dry, no
contamination, none, voids and partial yielding. The results of the tan delta test, partial discharge and
leakage current as a parameter for calculating the estimated life of the winding insulation in the D - map
method. The residual breakdown voltage obtained from the D - map calculation is 91,23%, this value is
above the minimum standard of 40% according to MELCO's Stator Insulation Requirements. From the Dmap graph, it is obtained that the estimated life of the generator stator winding insulation is 26 years,
assuming the generator operates normally and there is no disturbance to the generator.
