Abstract :
The installation of grounding is very important and becomes one of the protections in
SUTT for the main equipment at the substation against direct lightning strikes. Repair
methods that are effective, efficient and in a narrow area are very important to reduce
grounding or earthing values in a SUTT tower in the electrical system. A good grounding
system that has a small grounding limit value for SUTT must be less than 10?. At the
150kV Bangil New Porong SUTT, it was found that the ground resistance value exceeded
the standard, namely in the tower located on wet sand land. If the value of the grounding
limit is large. Therefore, a counterpoise spiral gap method is needed to reduce the holding
value in a narrow area at the 150kV SUTT Bangil ? New Porong. In this study, the
PSCAD Power System Computer Aided Design software was used to simplify the
simulation of the state of a lightning strike and to know before and before changes in the
resistance values. Given a lightning current of 42kA and causing backflashover, because
the crossarm voltage value is greater than the fire jump, which is 1800kV while the fire
limit is 1781.52kV. It takes an additional 15 meter of grounding cable electrodes so that
the value of the grounding resistance decreases by 0.59 ? from the original 10,77? and
can reduce the voltage on the crossarm of the tower to 1643,6kV
