Abstract :
The Bengkayang Extra High Voltage Substation has 2 Interbus Transformer (IBT)
275/150 kV which were commercially operated in 2016 to interconnect West
Borneo electricity system with Sarawak (Malaysia). In 2021, around 25% of west
borneo electricity system were supplied from Malaysia. Therefore, it needs more
attention to the lifetime of the transformer. The purpose of this research was to
analyze the effect of loading and ambient temperature on transformer lifetime by
quantitative research methods and descriptive statistical analysis technique. Based
on data analysis and calculation there are correlation that the greater the load and
higher the ambient temperature, the higher is the hotpost temperature. Each
increase in the hot spot temperature will increase the rate of loss-of-life of the
transformer, which will result in shorter transformer lifetime. Based on the average
loading data in 2021, the worst rate of loss-of-life for IBT unit 1 is 0,0131 in
February with an estimated remaining life is 20,52 years. Meanwhile, the worst
rate of loss-of-life for IBT unit 2 is 0,0067 in April with an estimated remaining life
is 20,53 years. The optimum load so that rate of loss-of-life IBT doesn?t exceed
100% is 98,3% or 81,9 MVA with ambient temperature 32,09 0C
