Abstract :
Current Transformer (CT) is an installation equipment that converts large power system currents into small currents so that they can be read by a kWh meter. CT that is usually installed on high voltage customers is CT with class 0.2s with several available ratios such as: 400/1 and 800/1 which can be chosen according to the contracted power. Further research is needed related to maximizing the kWh income on the effectiveness of CT installation using this ratio according to the contracted power, by testing the comparison of energy consumption between CT class 0.2s ratio 400/1 and 800/1 ratio. In testing the comparison of secondary current measurements between CT class 0.2s ratio 400/1 and 800/1 ratio at 100%, 20%, 5%, 1% load testing from nominal currents. From the results of current measurements, it can be calculated and known the percentage of current error from the tested CT is still within the current ratio error limit referring to the current ratio error limit table according to IEC 60044-1 standard. When the contracted power of 120 MVA can be used CT class 0.2s ratio 400/1 and 800/1 ratio, when using CT class 0.2s ratio 400/1 then the kwh meter can be set according to the CT ratio because it has a negative error ratio at load under 73.59%, and the positive error ratio at overload of 73.59% up to 100% load, and when using CT class 0.2s ratio 800/1 then the kwh meter can set the CT ratio 800 / 0.98 due to having positive error ratio of 0.02% starting from 1% to 100% load, so that it does not harm the customer as a positive CT ratio error tolerance
