Abstract :
Jakarta as the center of government in Indonesia is one of the worst cities experiencing congestion. This is because the rate of population growth is unstable and driven by the traffic light settings that are less effective, resulting in long traffic jams became inevitable. Therefore, the required traffic light control system that dynamically and in real time so as to reduce the congestion that occurs. In the design of smart traffic light system using the method prototype. Traffic light settings on smart traffic light system using the commands with the C programming language is embedded in the ATmega16 microcontroller using AVR codevision software. Smart traffic light will produce a queue of vehicles waiting time varies according to the level of density that occurs in a way that is based on the number of detected infrared sensors. Thus, the queuing time on the road that are detected by the sensors will be given more time longer than the road that terdeksi by fewer sensors.
