Abstract :
Shading can af ect the performance of the PV panel. The intensity of the shading that covers
the surface of the PV Panel can inhibit production so that the irradiation that is converted into
electrical energy decreases. In this study, the author aims to conduct research to see how much
ef ect shading has on the production of PV panels and tested experimentally in DKI Jakarta, Indonesia. Selecting the shading intensity of the shadow starting from 25%, 50%, and 75%
serves to see how much dif erence the production results produce. Experimental measurements
were carried out in an open area with various solar radiation intensities. The results of
measurements in the field indicate that shading greatly af ects performance degradation
resulting in a decrease in the current, voltage and power generated by the PV Panel. After
taking measurements in the field it is continued with a simulation through the Matlab
application. Matlab is a calculation and analysis programming software that is widely used in
research. The results of the experimental data in the field with the simulation results from the
Matlab application will be compared and the result is that there is a slight dif erence in the
results because the conditions in the field are more real and more varied than the conditions in
the Matlab application. The solution so that shading does not af ect the performance of the PV
panel is before installation to make sure the area of the installation location is minimal with
things that reduce the performance of the PV panel such as conducting a survey.
