Abstract :
Voltage drop is the amount of voltage lost in a conductor. Power loss is a condition where
the power is reduced in the electric power system from the generator or substation to the
load caused by the resistance of the conductor which is affected by current and voltage.
Voltage drop and power loss is one of the problems that occur in distribution lines caused
by the length of the feeder in the medium voltage network. If the voltage drop and power
loss exceed predetermined limits, it can cause losses to the company and society. In this
study, the load breaking was carried out on the Panimbang Feeder which has a large
enough voltage drop and power loss. The method used in this panel is a quantitative
method, in the form of literature studies, interviews, and calculations. The Panimbang
feeder is a feeder that is supplied with a 60 MVA transformer from GI Menes which has
a line length of 167.94 kms. Before breaking the load on the Panimbang feeder, the value
of the power loss of the panimbang feeder is 38.82%, while the value of the voltage drop
before the load breaking is 30.1%. After breaking the load, the power loss of the
Panimbang feeder becomes 5.48%, and the voltage drop value for the Panimbang feeder
becomes 6.9%. And for the new feeder, namely the New Panimbang feeder, the power
loss value for the feeder is 7.32% and the voltage drop value for the feeder is 8.2%.
