Abstract :
One of the problems in Steam Power Plant (PLTU) is the use of coal fuel. In this case good coal quality is coal that produces high heat and low ash. Ash which settles during combustion is approved to form slagging. Slag and this will be done on the heat transfer that occurs and the performance of the equipment used. This will lead to the use of more coal than the cost of tool maintenance. It is hoped that this can be discussed about the potential use of slagging in the Banten 2 PLTU Banten and can find out the losses associated with slagging results. The data taken in this research are coal calorie content, furnace temperature, boiler design so that the potential use of slagging is related to turbine efficiency. The use of low rank coal (LRC) must be avoided. The author uses descriptive research methods based on field case studies on the PT system. Indonesia Power UJP Banten 2 Labuan and strengthened with several theories and scientific journals. The data obtained can be calculated slag potential, boiler efficiency calculations and heat calculations. And the results of the calculation of the efficiency of the boiler before the slagging is higher than the efficiency of the boiler compilation of the existence of slagging. And after a slag occurs, there is a lack of heat transfer.
