Abstract :
In Indonesia in 2018 there was a pilot project of PT. PLN in the application of Advance
metering Insfrastructure (AMI) to improve transmission and distribution networks to customers
with a percentage of meter read success of 94.7%. Hasil the pilot project is PT. PLN sets the
AMI communication standard with a percentage of 99.5%, therefore there must be a backup from
the main communication media to improve performance for the success of meter reading and
achieve the percentage standard set by PT PLN. The study implemented the Analytical Hierarchy
Process (AHP) method to determine the results of the study in determining the selection of
communication media priorities in advance metering infrastructure using nine criteria, namely
bandwidth, data rate, channel, latency, packet duration, latency, coverage, cost and deployment.
The final results of this study provide support for the decision that Fiber Optic is the right
communication medium to be used in Advance Metering Insfrastructure with a value (0.10462).
These results are obtained from calculations using the Analytical Hierarchy Process method with
data on nine criteria and fourteen alternatives that can be recommendations for PT. PLN in
determining communication media for the application of Advance Metering Insfrastructure in
Indonesia
