Abstract :
Due to the frequent use and age of the condenser, many problems and obstacles are found in the condenser. There are several factors that can influence the condenser, including the pipe material, pipe diameter, pipe wall thickness, pipe length, and its regulation, pipe cleanliness, the presence of non-condensable gas on the steam side, the condensate water level, the initial temperature, initial pressure, and cooling water flow rate, steam pressure and initial temperature, enthalpy and steam drain flow rate. Like heat exchangers in general, the condenser can be measured by a variety of performance indicators. The indicators used are, log mean temperature difference (LMTD), temperature rise (TR), and overall heat transfer coefficient (U). To be able to determine the value of each of these indicators requires data on various parameters, such as condenser specifications, pressure, temperature, and flow rate. Many problems and obstacles are found in the condenser. One of the obstacles is tube leakage which causes sea water to mix with fresh water resulting from condensation which will damage the water quality that will be reused in the PLTU cycle (closed cycle). However, in the case of tube leakage, there is often no immediate retubing, but plugging is performed so that the required maintenance time is shorter and the condenser can operate again. In addition to economical plugging, it is also a simple and efficient method in terms of installation, but after giving LMTD ,TR and U plugs it has decreased, this can occur due to the effect of giving plugs totaling 194 (condenser A); 206 (condenser B) has begun to affect the transfer and absorption of heat in the condenser, the more tubes that are given a plug the less the area of heat transfer to condense the vapor in the condenser.
