Abstract :
The selection process for majors has an important role because when taking the selection
test, new prospective students must choose a major that is in accordance with the
assessment, if it is not appropriate, the student will be eliminated when participating in
the selection. At SMPN 1 Palimanan, the recommendation process for vocational majors
is still done manually, so there are several obstacles in determining student majors
recommendations. This study uses the Weighted Product (WP) method, because in
making decisions, it is recommended for vocational majors for students at the end of
junior high school. The application of the Vocational Majors Decision Support System
for Final Students of SMPN 1 Palimanan is a website-based system. In one of the
calculations that have been done for Devin Lukmansyah's student data, it was found that
the recommended vocational major is Computer and Network Engineering with a weight
value of 0.032025116239072. The criteria used are the average subjects with each weight.
Therefore, the research will carry out the process of majoring recommendations with the
weighted product method and implemented into a website-based application. With the
existence of an alternative media in the Decision Support System, final junior high school
students can choose a major that is in accordance with their assessment of enrolling in a
Vocational High School.
