Abstract :
Transformers are used widely, both in the field of electric power where inside the
transformer contains oil which functions as an insulator. Usually this oil also functions
as a coolant so that the transformer does not heat up. For this reason, it is necessary to
test transformer oil by taking transformer oil which will be tested using a breakdown
voltage tester. Which is then checked again whether it meets the standards of the SPLN
or not, if it does not meet the requirements then purification will be carried out which
can improve the breakdown voltage of the transformer oil. This research discusses the
condition of the breakdown voltage of transformer oil before being purified, how the
condition of the breakdown voltage of transformer oil after being purified and the
breakdown voltage ratio is in accordance with the SPLN breakdown voltage standard.
The results of testing the transformer breakdown voltage before being purified were
28.8 kV and 36.9 kV after being purified were 59.9 kV and 60 kV. From these results the
purified transformer oil was declared good because it was in accordance with SPLN 49
1 1982, namely the oil must meet the requirements of IEC 156 for a breakdown voltage
of ? 30 kV/2.5mm.
