Abstract :
This research was conducted at the work unit of PT PLN (Persero) Timor Main
Generation Unit for Bolok Steam Power Plant (PLTU) which is in the province of
NTT on Timor Island. The stages of this analysis began after a loading disturbance
occurred at the Bolok PLTU in semester 1 2022 Unit # 1.2 where a trip occurred
due to the Timor System Network Disruption due to Rainstorms and Lightning. This
incident resulted in the PLTU Bolok unit experiencing houseload failure due to the
PMT on the 70kV side and the Circuit Breaker Generator in the Open position.
In the AVR system modeling simulation, the load test under full load conditions
proves that the AVR system works well in controlling the output voltage of the
generator according to the AVR function itself. Automatic Voltage Regulators or
commonly known as Automatic Voltage Regulators (AVR) have a very important
role in maintaining the generator output voltage to remain at its value even when
there is a load change. With the occurrence of this disturbance, it is necessary to
reset the AVR so that it can work properly in dealing with any changes in the load
that occur. Thus the stability of the electricity system on the island of Timor can be
maintained and also contributes to improving company performance. The tolerance
value of the percentage of voltage regulation set from the equipment spesifications
is ± 20%, by looking at the lowest and highest percentage of voltage regulation, it
can be concluded that the percentage value of voltage regulation is still normal and
does not exceed the tolerance value set by the company so that the Automatic
Voltage Regulator (AVR) works well as generator voltage control.
