Abstract :
Steam Power Plant as a mainstay power plant and is a major requirement for industries in the world that use coal as fuel and the main parameters that affect the performance of the plant. To produce electrical energy, it is necessary to process the heating of water in the power plant until it becomes steam in the boiler. In the boiler combustion and heat transfer process occurs, one of the things that affects the efficiency of the boiler is coal fuel. This thesis calculates and analyzes the types of low rank coal and medium rank coal, and the results of the blending method on the boiler efficiency. From the results of the study found that medium rank coal type coal is better than low rank coal, but there are certain reasons why this type of coal is not always used. From the results of coal blending which is a method of mixing coal from two types of coal that have different qualities, it is found that the ratio of coal blends with a ratio of 20: 80 is more efficient than the other blends, because it always gets a high value of boiler efficiency in this mixture, where the results the highest boiler efficiency value obtained by 86.276%, this proves that the percentage of coal type is very influential and the application of coal blending can increase the value of boiler efficiency.
