Abstract :
Motor pump sop storage at the Deinking Plant is used to send back pulp
products that are wasted from the final production to preprocessing again. On discharge
pipe have a problem vibrations when the opening control valve is 40%, that make the
result in the lifetime of the control valve used to regulate flow doesn?t last long time. this
research aims to improve the modifying control of motor pump sop storage which
previously used Direct On Line was replaced by using a Variable Speed Drive to
increase efficiency by controlling the rotational speed of the motor pump needed
according to flow. this research using comparative quantitative methods and will be
comparison the power of induction motor. After being replaced with VSD, the speed of
the pump sop was set at a rotational speed of around 970 r/min with a more stable load
trend. There was an increase in the temperature of the pump motor after replacing with
VSD from 55oC to 68oC, because the rotation speed of the fan motor was reduced due to
the VSD setting, previously when using DOL the rotation speed was 2965 r/min to 970
r/min. The results of the calculation of the total power within 30 days, on control DOL
is 1126.25 kW and VSD is 584.38 kW, with an average percentage of power savings
after using VSD is 47.03%.
