Abstract :
HRSG components often suffer damage, especially on the economizer both on the inside and outside the tube. The cause of the failure can occur due to corrosion. For this reason, a failure analysis is performed to determine the cause of the failure of the SA210 tube economizer material by conducting several tests and examinations such as visual observation, OM, XRD, SEM-EDX and hardness test. Visual observations show a failure in the form of crack and branching on the surface of the water-side tube and crack morphology. Hardness test results still meet the hardness of carbon steel standards that is 55-120 HV with an average value of 98 HV. In view of the metallographic results of ferrite and pearlite which have undergone decarburization, due to overheating will decrease the nature of the material. Deposits formed on the inner and outer surface of the pipe due to the reaction of the pipe material with oxygen to form Fe2O3 (iron Oxide) are in the form of iron oxidation scale, commonly known as general corrosion attack. These factors cause stress corrosion cracking (SCC) which have intergranular morphology.
