Abstract :
This thesis is a research of superheater tube material obtained from the Banten Energy Sustainable Steam Power Plant. In the primary superheater tube material, failure has been found in the form of degradation of one part of the tube. The condition of the tube that has experienced thinning in the walls and the presence of deposits that are spread unevenly on the tube. To find out the root cause and mechanism of tube degradation, a study and research were carried out which included visual observation and analysis of several tests such as chemical composition testing to determine the chemical levels present in the Primary superheater tube, metallographic testing to determine the microstructure of the tube, hardness testing to determine the hardness of the tube, SEM-EDX test to determine the thickness and chemical content of deposits magnetite (Fe3O4) on the inside and outside of the superheater tube. To find out if there is degradation in the primary superheater tube when compared with ASTM (American Standard Testing and Material) SA 213 T91. in the future the material can be used in the long term.
