Abstract :
Solar energy has a huge potential that is about 1400-2200 kWh/m2/year, particularly in Indonesia. One of which is located at PLTP Ulubelu of Tanggamus Regency, Lampung. The solar energy produced by solar radiation over the area is approximated about 5.17 kWh/m2. This thesis discusses the potential of solar energy generation development by improving the sub-optimal land at Cluster D owned by PT. Pertamina Geothermal Energy. There is always an addition load into the existing installation resulting overload in the transformer that is able to damage the equipment and stop the electric supply. Thus, the land of PLTP is considered to facilitate PLTS development compensating the power back-up of the company?s vital unit. PLTP is a solar energy generation relying the sunlight to be converted into the electricity by solar panel. The produced electricity then being stored in the battery for certain usage. A quantitative method is used in this thesis because the parameter is in term of number. The result is a 169 m2 land can contain 88 panels, 36 batteries, and produce 132 kWh. The loading of the transformer is also proportionally reduced to 73% so that the solar energy generation is feasible to construct.
