Abstract :
A power transformer installed on a power generation unit is a vital equipment whoserole is to distribute electrical energy to substation to meet the load demand. Power transformer is designed with a working temperature of 20?C, however in Indonesia power transformer operates with temperature around 30?C. Therefore, loading scheme needs to be done, in order for the transformer operating period to able to work for a long time or at least tocomply with the standards. Service duration of a transformer is also affected by excessive heating of the coil, which in turn causing transformer's isolation to decay and raising the oil temperature that cause a change in the oil characteristic. If this change persists for a significant amount of time, it will lower the isolation grade of the oil. This thesis researches the effects of load given to power transformer and the effect of temperature on power transformer lifetime shrinkage with the method used is quantitative and then further elaborated descriptively, therefore the problems mentioned earlier are described as number figures. From the calculations, the loading of PLTA Timo is constant amounting to 80%, hence causing lifetime shrinkage of 34% minimum with lifetime estimation of 54,56 years.
