Abstract :
The electrical power system contains of components, such as generation, transmission, and distribution which are relatively expensive and need to be protected by proper, reliable, and economical protection in purpose of avoiding
internal and external faults to trigger damage on the components especially the power transformer in Kamojang Unit 5 Geothermal Generation Plant maintained by PT. Pertamina Geothermal Energy. One of the protections that is differential relay setting which is as main protection to protect and avoid the faults. The relay selectively and quickly operates depending on the balance of the current
in the two sides of the power transformer assisted by current transformer. This thesis discusses about the calculation of differential relay setting and maximum current limit carried on the network using described quantitative method so that
the result is numerous. The result is 0,33 A for the current setting and 2702,7 A of 13,8 kV and 197,66 A of 150 kV are the maximum current being able to flow so that the relay operates well.
