Abstract :
PT. SKF Indonesia is one of manufacturing that uses electrical energy in the production process. Electrical energy is used to run electrical loads, which are reactive, inductive or capacitive. One of the most used electrical load is electric motors that are inductive. Utilizing of many inductive loads will result in a low power factor. Power factor is the ratio between active power and apparent power. If the power factor is lower than 0.85 then the reactive power which used by the industry load will charged additional costs in determining the utility bill. In addition, low power factor will affect the effectiveness and optimization of electrical equipment in PT. SKF Indonesia. To overcome the problem of low power factor or high reactive power, many industries are installing bank capacitors as reactive power compensation. Same case in PT. SKF Indonesia which has been installed the bank capacitor by using group compensation method. The author analyzes the capacitor bank especially on the LVMDP-1 panel. The research method used in this research is quantitative method. While the method of data collection is done directly in PT SKF Indonesia. By analyzing the modeling of installation bank capacitor, so it will get the value of the power factor is varied and the capacitor capacity varied too. So we can choose the installation model in accordance with the needs. If the existing capacitor is removable then the obtained apparent power by 1565,26 with a power factor of 0.75. To achieve the power factor value of 0.96 then the required capacity of the capacitor a total of 694,99 kVAR which is mounted on the LVMDP-1 panel.
