Abstract :
PLTU PT. Lestari Banten Energi plays an important role in electricity production in Indonesia. So that is expected high security and reliability in the operation so that electricity supply is not interrupted. One of the most important parts in a PLTU is coal feeder. Coal feeder functions as a regulator of the amount of coal that will be smoothed in the pulverizer. Setting the flow rate of coal by regulating the speed of the conveyor in the coal feeder which is driven by an electric motor. The electric motor used is an induction machine with speed settings using a variable freuency drive. The use of an induction machine as a driving motor produces harsh mechanical characteristics so that it is suitable for loads with changing torque and speed requirements. Selection of protection index for motorcycles and installation equipment using IP55 due to the condition of the dusty coal installation area and open area with the possibility of rainwater splashing. For protection of equipment against short circuit currents that occur at 388.79 A circuit breaker is used with a breaking capacity of 1kA and for protection of humans, the motor earthing resistance cannot be more than 0.125 ?.
