Abstract :
Generator is one of the main components in PLTU used to convert mechanical energy into electrical energy. The generator must have high efficiency so that the electric power delivered to the consumer can be maximized. Generator efficiency is a comparison between output power (Pout) and input power (Pin). The generator input power can be calculated by summing the output power by the total wasted power or the total losses in the generator. Generator losses generally consist of winding losses, iron core losses, mechanical losses and stray losses. The greater the total losses generator then the efficiency will tend to go down. Based on the analysis of synchronous generator efficiency, the efficiency obtained from 01 January 2018 to 05 January 2018 shows that the average efficiency per day on the generator ranges between 98-99%. In terms of calculations and graphs obtained from the analysis, generator efficiency is greatly influenced by load. The greater the power output or power used the generator efficiency will be higher.
