Abstract :
The imbalance between the power supply and the load requirements will cause a shift in the system frequency value from its nominal value (50 Hz). In the event of a
large enough frequency imbalance, such as a large capacity generator trip or a trip IBT will suddenly cause the system frequency to drop rapidly. The decrease in frequency can reach a critical point, beyond the allowed tolerable limits. If the critical drop in frequency is not immediately anticipated it will cause other units of the operating plant to be tripped from the system, and the worst result is a blackout
outage. One effort that will be taken to overcome such conditions is the separation of the system (Islanding). The Islanding Operation Scheme is a system security
scheme in which interconnecting generating units are automatically separated to operate on their own or with other units in a smaller area by carrying the load in the
capacity of the generating unit. In this thesis discussed about the design of island operation scheme on Ungaran-Kesugihan subsystem with simulation of 3 IBT trip
interruption. In this island scheme, there are 4 stages of load release in order to accommodate subsystem condition for 24 hours using df / dt relay (Rate of Change of Frequency Relay).
