Abstract :
Bank capacitors are equipment used to improve the quality of voltage on the load side, improve power factor (cos ?), reduce transmission losses and supply reactive power. The development of the electricity system now has led to an increase in efficiency and quality in the distribution of electrical energy. One way to improve this is to reduce power losses and minimize voltage drop. Therefore, the importance of keeping the voltage at a specified level, a method that allows it to work more effectively is done by using a bank capacitor. In this thesis, the calculation of power factor and power losses and voltage drop on Depok-Cawang # 1-2 conductor by installing a capacitor bank in 150 kV Cawang Lama Substation. The targeted power factor is >0.85 and is obtained from the calculation of 0.70 so that the reactive power required by the capacitor of the bank is 92.25 MVAR. The results of installation capacitor bank can also be seen to have an impact which is the increase in voltage received after the capacitor is installed to 150.22 kV from the previous voltage of 136 kV. By installing a reactive power loss capacitor to 11.72 MVAR and before installing the capacitor at 44.66 MVAR and a voltage drop before the capacitor operates at 16 kV and after the capacitor operates to 3.68 kV.
