Abstract :
Transformer is electrical device with a function to both distribute electrical power and changes its voltages. Owing to this, it needs to have reliability in terms of its operation. This is achievable by installing safety tools or protection tools to avoid internal and external interferences. Protection system protects electrical equipments from the interferences so that the equipments will not be damaged and to minimize the blackout areas. These transformer protection tools are differential relay, over current relay, and ground fault relay. This thesis talks about a design of protection system that will be used to protect IBT 1 500 MVA on the construction of GISTET Duri Kosambi 500 kV with differential relay protection, over current relay and ground fault relay.
