Abstract :
The disturbance in the electric power system is generally a short circuit. The type of short-circuit interference is short circuit between phase and short circuit of phase to ground. The consequences of short-circuit interference may be temporary disturbances or permanent disturbances that damage equipment both thermally and mechanically. Short circuiting currents can be removed when the circuit breaker is open. In the system of protection in the substation has been designed very well to anticipate the occurrence of interference. This is intended to keep the system reliable when the interruption does not occur until the outages or disruption extends to other areas. Determining the capacity of the circuit breaker shall be based on the largest possible short circuit current value. The largest short-circuit current value obtained for the phase to the ground current is 16 kA and 21 kA for 3 phase short circuit current while the interrupting current interruption capacity at the power breaker is still much greater than the current disturbance that is 50 kA . Therefore, the installed power circuit breakers still meet the requirements of a good and reliable protection system.
