Abstract :
The frequency in an interconnected power system must be kept in normal condition. The frequency of the system should not drop from its normal value for a long time. One of the causes of system frequency drops is the trips of one or more generating units. If the reduced frequency continues to be left it will interfere with other power plants performance that is still working, so that interference can be widespread and cause of the blackout system. To avoid that happening, efforts should be made to restore the normal frequency of the system. Load shedding is done in case of drastically decreasing system frequency. Load shedding is working with help with frequency relay to make it faster and more accurate. In this thesis discusses about the load shedding program on the electrical power system, then calculate the frequency rate during the disturbance of the generating unit. Jawa Bali power system disrupted on October 28, because of the trips of PAITON power plant units 7 and 8 which caused the frequency to drop drastically. The governor can not raise the frequency because the power loss is too large. So we need to do the load shedding with the frequency relay of phase 1 of 625 MW.
