Abstract :
In the development of the load which is the use of electrical energy by the customer, a lot of harmonics of the current flows in the Power System. This is because the use of electronic equipment that is non linier loads. The harmonic
currents that arise in the system give negative effect of increasing the loss of power in the transformer, so that the temperature of the equipment exceeds the permissible temperature. In this thesis, research on the effect of current harmonics on the power capacity (kVA) on distribution transformer in MK-35 substation distribution. The current harmonics measurement and voltage harmonics are
obtained, the current harmonics value at R phase is 9%, the S phase is 8.9% and the T phase is 8.2%, exceeds the standard value of IEEE 519-1992 (current harmonic standard limits used ? 8%), while the voltage harmonic value at the R
phase is 0.1%, the S phase is 0.4% and the T phase is 0.3% below the IEEE standard 519 - 1992 (the standard harmonic voltage used ? 5%). Then from the calculation of losses on the distribution transformer, an increase in losses on the
transformer distribution of 1405.584 W, and a decrease in transformer power capacity of 3.03% or 19,089 kVA. In addition, the presence of harmonics on the transformer causes the temperature of hotspots to be 104.326 OC.
