Abstract :
The ground cable network in medium-voltage distribution of 20kV in major metropolitan cities has an important role. The disruption of ground cables is often caused by their old age. When the disruption occurs, the process of finding the location of the occurrene and the reparation process takes a relatively long time. Therefore, a predictive steps is needed to monitor conditions of ground cables network. This predictive maintenance steps includes the measurement of Partial Discharge Activity. On the part of the cable that indicates the level of insulation deterioration experienced by the cable. Those measurements can be used as the subsequent maintenance guidance on the cable based on cable conditions. This paper explains the predictive maintenance method of ground cable network with partial discharge method, where partial discharge (PD) is measured by off-line OWTS (Oscillating Wave Test System) technology. The PD measurement resulting a very bad cable conditions that will require a maintenance step of replacing the cables. PD re-measuring after maintenance in order to purposely see changes in PD activity resulting a very poor cable conditions at new jointing, bad and wired connection locations on non maintenance part that exhibit a symptoms of weakening of insulation due to cable life.
