Abstract :
In this current situation of industries in BSD Serpong area, there are many industries require a considerable power. This existing industries certainly give a great affect to development of the area. PLN as a company which supplying electric power to that area needs a great system of electric power distribution and good protection system also to keep electric quality for industries at BSD Serpong area. Thermal over load protection is required on protection system to protect electric motor from over load by detecting heat from the flow of electrical current. Thermal over load protection works before Over Current Relay (OCR) system determines the electrical current disturbance because over thermal over load protection has function to protect the existing equipment on the system due to the hot temperatures from passing currents. In this essay will be discussed how setting thermal over load that installed on medium voltage customers and the factors that affect the thermal over load setting through the analysis of testing on the field and the calculation.
