Abstract :
ABSTRAK Labu siam (Sechium edule (Jacq.) Sw.) merupakan salah satu tanaman berkhasiat obat. Menurut Priantono (2005) labu siam mempunyai kegunaan sebagaiantioksidan, antimikrobial dan diuretik. Mengandung senyawa aktif flavonoid, saponin, dan tanin yang memiliki efek antibakteri. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk meliat konsentrasi minimum ekstrak etanol 70% daun labu siam (Sechium edule (jacq.) Sw)dalam menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Escherichia coli dan Staphylococcus aureus. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan uji difusi sumuran. Didapatkan hasil bahwa daun labu siam (Sechium edule (jacq.) Sw) tidak dapat menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri pada konsentrasi 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, dan 25%. Pada konsentrasi 60%, dan 100% di bakteri Staphylococcus terrdapat zona hambat. Ekstrak etanol 70% daun labu siam tidak dapat menghambat pertumbuhan bkteri Escherichia coli tetapi pada bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dapat menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri. Sw) in hibiting the growth of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Could not inhibiting the growth of bacteria at a concentration of 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% and 25%. The smaller the ethanol extract concentration of 70% chyote leaves (Sechium edule (jacq.) Sw) the inhibiting zone formed is no 70% ethanol extract of chyote leaves cannot inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteris Keywords : Chyote (Sechium edule (jacq.)
