Abstract :
MARIATI PRISKILIA with NIRM 1020197189, Department of Christian Education, compiled this thesis entitled Pedagogic Analysis of the Impact of Toxic Parenting on the Behavior of Children Aged 12-18 Years from Christian Families: A Case Study in Lembang Saloso, Rantepao District, Kabaupaten, North Toraja. Under the guidance of Dr. Abraham S. Tangroll M.Si, and Feriyanto M.Si. Parenting plays an important role in a child's growth and development. The failure of parents in educating their children is the result of parental mistakes in everyday life. Parenting has a significant influence on shaping a child's personality, attitudes, and responses, which are indicators for children to determine who they are. As a result, children often develop inappropriate or negative parenting styles. Toxic parenting is the application of negative parenting that has a negative impact on the mental and physical child. In this study, qualitative research methods were used which included three data collection techniques, namely observation, interviews, and literature studies. This happened to a Christian family in Lembang Saloso, Rantepao sub-district, where parents who practice toxic parenting show negative behaviors such as physical and verbal violence, which can have a toxic effect on the child's personality with the tendency of parents to practice toxic parenting to their children which has an impact on the child's behavior. From the results of this study, that parents in this case apply toxic parenting styles for their children which have an impact on the development of the child's personality, relationships with others, and the spiritual development of the child.
