Abstract :
Nelvi Datu Rombe (2020185633), 2022 wrote a thesis entitled ?Theoligical Study of Mantunu as a Way of Salvation and Blessing for the Toraja Church, the Ra?bung Congregation? under the guidance Berna Sule, M.Th of supervisor I and Simon Petrus, S.Pd.K, M.Ag of supervisor II
Believers are people who have been redeemed by Jesus Christ through His sacrifiece on the cross. As God?s redemeed human, then humans have received salvation and blessings from Jesus Christ. Through the ransom given by Jesus Christ, believers should be able to be witnesses of Christ as the only way of salvation and blessing. Jesus Chirst is the One who truly saves mankind. But in the belief of Aluk Todolo it is believed that the mantunu rite is a means to obtain salvation and blessings receivedby the ancestors on the condition that an animal is slaughtered, so that the ?dead? can return to being a god and bless the descendants who are still apply in the life of faith and culture for the Toraja Church members, the Ra?bung congregation. Based on this fact, the writer is interested in studying the reasons why the Toraja Church members, the Ra?bung congregation, still believe in this.
In this study using qualitative research methods in which information is obtained by interacting directly with informants through interviews and observations
The results showed that the Toraja Church members of the Ra?bung congregation still believed in mantunu as a way of salvation and blessing on the grounds that their sacrifices to the ?dead? were believed to be able to keep away from illnes, through family guidance there would be abundant blessings associated with three forms, namely lolo you know, lolo patuan, and lolo tananan Mantunu is part of Toraja culture but should no longer be seen as a source af salvatio and blessing.
