Abstract :
To master a language, a language learner must practice the target language regularly. However, they get difficulties to do it because the vocabulary they have learned is not the vocabulary that they use in their daily life; they must take special time to practice the vocabulary. This condition makes language learner get bored easily and uninterested significantly or even becomes lazy in the classroom. This will affect learner not to use the vocabulary in their daily life, and finally they will forget the vocabulary that they have learned before. Therefore, materials taken from students daily life or based on students daily life might have advantages in increasing their English vocabulary, in which it will improve their ability in English.
This study aims to find out how daily life-based learning can improve the students vocabulary mastery.
To achieve the purpose of this study, the research uses Classroom Action research design. The subject of this study is the first year students of SMP Al-Ghazali Batang Batang Sumenep. In this research, the researcher collaborates with English teacher of SMP Al-Ghazali. The researcher takes part as teacher when the teaching and learning process is conducted in the class and the English teacher observes the researcher and students activities during the implementation of daily live based learning.
Based on the finding and discussion, the students daily life-based learning can improve the students vocabulary mastery and motivate them to study English. It is proven by the students enthusiasm during the teaching and learning process and the improvement of students score after the treatment.
