Abstract :
The purpose of the research is to determine the level of difficulty of students learning on the subject matter the human digestive system which viewed from the cognitive, learning indicators and causal factors. The method used is descriptive quantitative and the sampling is taken using purposive sampling method. Population in research is all students of Grade VIII in SMP Negeri 3 Percut, Sei Tuan Deli Serdang Academic Year 2017/2018.They are 324 students of 9 (nine) classes. The samples are 80 students and is taken purposively as they were determined to have difficulty to study the lesson material. The research instrument is a diagnostic test in the form of objective test and questionnaire. Data were analyzed by percentage technique. The results showed that: (1) The percentage of students' learning difficulties in each aspect of cognitive knowledge (C1. C2) is 29.37% (low); understanding (C2) is 55.3% (medium); application (C3) is 43.1% (medium); analysis (C4) is 41,5% (medium); evaluation (C5) is 36.3% (medium); creation (C6) of 63.8% (high). (2) Percentage of learning difficulties of each indicator about the subject matter the human digestive system include: the indicator to differentiate between the digestive ducts and glands in the human digestive system 61.81% (high), the indicators to describe type of food based on the contain it has is 46.56%, (medium), the indicator to compare the mechanical and chemical digestive process is 52.03% (medium), the indicator to mention examples of digestive system abnormality and diseases and are commonly found on daily activity and how to deal with them is (64.37%) (high), and (3) factors which are considered contributing to affect student?s learning difficulty in the lesson material of Digestive System in Human is interest, motivation, teacher, and lesson material is 70.01% /take effect, 67.27% /take effect, 58.45 % /quite influential, and 63.01%/ take effect category respectively
