Abstract :
The thesis entitled ?Translation Strategies Applied in the English Subtitle in ?Divergent? Movie from English into Indonesian is a linguistics study. The objectives of the study were to find out the kinds of Subtitling Strategies found in the Divergent movie from English into Indonesian. The data of this study were taken from the Subtitle and script of Divergent Movie. In analyzing the data, the researcher was conducting by using qualitative method. The result showed the kind of Translation Strategies in ?Divergent? Movie. The data were analyzed by Gottlieb?s theory. The researcher found 6 Translation Strategies in Divergent Movie, they were: Transfer (246 times), Expansion (120 times), Paraphrase (60 times), Imitation (49 times), Condensation (44 times) and Deletion (8 times). And the researcher also found 3 kinds of the way of Translation they were Dynamic Equivalence (26 times), Contex-Oriented (23 times) and Functional Equivalence (22 times) from the 527 data that used found in the Subtitle in Divergent Movie.
