Abstract :
Background of the research :
Incidence of diarrhea is an unhealthy condition due to disease
marked by a bowel movement in liquid form
and often with a quantity of the incident.
Average diarrheal disease occur every year in
children in Indonesia. The pattern of healthy
behaviors in children pre-school age to be the mo
st effective health interventions to prevent
diseases. Impact of diarrhea in children pr
e-school age can interf
ere with adequate body
functions such as dehydration, shock hypovolem
ik, hypokalemia, seizures, malnutrition and
hypoglycemia
Aims of the research :
This reseach was aimed at identifying the correlation between hand
washing using soap and diarrhea incidence
in Dusun 10 Pandowan
Brosot Galur Kulon
Progo.
Research Methodology :
It applied the method of the quali
tative of survey
analitic with
restrospective study time appro
ach. There were 32 respondents
and the subjects were children
aged 3-6 years old. The research was conducted in October 2010 up to January 2011.
Research of the result :
There is no correlation between
hand washing using soap with
occurrence of diarrhea in child
ren pre-school age, shown by
the value of r count of 0,007
wich is less than r table 3,841.
Suggestion and conclusion:
Researches who have conducted
research with the subject of
preschool children there was is no significant re
lationship. The next research should conduct
the research dealing with the incidence of di
arrhea associated with the bowel movement and
behavior of environmental sanitation problem
s through direct observation method to take
large area and more research subjects so that
the result of the research becomes more
maximum
