Bunga, Ajeng. 2020. ?illocutionary act in Jay Asher?s ?Thirteen Reason Why ?Novel?. Thesis. Graduate Progam in English Literature Dapartment, Faculty of Letters, University of Gresik. Advisor (1) Drs. Danu Wahyono, M. Hum. This study discusses the novel of Jay Asher?s entitled Thirteen Reason Why. This study tells the story of Hannah Baker, a girl who committed suicide. She left 7 tapes after she died. She tells readers Thirteen Reason Why she died. Here, she spoke about the truth in her life.This research will focus on expressives illocutionary acts in this novel. This research is to describe about illocutionary acts based on observations of novel stories, in order to obtain accurate and more complete data. This research will also be supported by several theories from experts so that the data obtained becomes more focused and the researcher also reads the novel more than once so that all data can be more complete. The result of this study indicate expressives illocutinary acts. The results of this study can conclude that in fact there are many of these novels that have not and need to be researched again. The researcher hopes that this research can help further research in the same or different but related novels.
