ABSTRACT
This study aimed at examining the effectiveness of Communicative
Technique to improve grammar in teaching speaking at EFL class. The design of
this research was pre-experimental research with pre-test and post-test. The
research was conducted at the second semester of System Engineering of
Hamzanwadi University in the academic year 2018-2019. The samples were 29
students. Random sampling technique was used to determine the sample of the
study. The instrument of the study was speaking test to collect the data. The data
were analyzed by using statistics 22 for windows. The result of descriptive
statistics indicated that communicative technique was effective in EFL learners
with the mean score post-test 62.07 was higher than mean score of pre-test 33.10.
The hypothesis testing used paired sample t-test at significance (2-tailed). The
value level of analyzing data was .00 which was lower than .05. It means that
alternative hypothesis of this study was accepted.
