ABSTRACT
The purpose of this research was to find out the effectiveness of two stay two
stay technique in teaching writing of narrative text for the tenth graders of SMA NW
Pancor in the school year 2018-2019. This research used a quantitative method with a
pre-experimental one group pre-test and post-test design. The sample used of the
research was cluster sampling which was taken from 10th graders (IPA-X) and
consisted of 21 students. Writing test was used as an instrument to collect the data. In
collecting the data, pre-test and post-test were given to the sample. The result was
analyzed by using SPSS 22 for windows program. After analyzing the data, the
researcher found that the mean score of pre-test was 45.52 and post-test was 56.76. in
paired sample t-test, there was a significant difference in the mean scores between pretest and post test, t (df=20)= -11.032 at p=0.000, it meant that the null hypothesis was
rejected and the alternative hypothesis was accepted. It implied that two stay two stray
technique was effective in teaching writing of narrative text.
