Abstract :
This case study research was aimed at knowing the anxiety students’ in learning English. It was conducted in Statistics department at the second semester of Hamzanwadi University. There were twenty six of students’ participated in this study. The data were collected by conducting classroom observation and giving questionnaire to students. The classroom observation has aim to know the students’ activities then observed students’ anxiety during teaching learning process while questionnaire was used to know difficulties and factors may contribute to the students in learning English. Based on the result of classroom observation, the students’ had two types of anxiety. Namely state anxiety and trait anxiety. The students’ indicated that there were (42%) of students’ in state anxiety. (20.1%) of students’ were in neutral. Students’ who do not feel anxious were (37.7%). It means that the majority of students’ in statistics class feel anxious in learning English. The present researcher has found that the most of the students’ feel anxiety because of many factors such as, fear of negative evaluation or negative comments, laughed by other people, feel less competence then other friends, and they were more anxious when they did not enough preparation for examination. Considering the process and the results of this research, the present researcher suggested that the students’ need some various elements like teacher’s motivation and interesting technique to make them spirit.
