Abstract :
This study aimed at examining the effectiveness of Snakes and Ladders
Board in teaching speaking skill for the students of the second semester of
Hamzanwadi University. This research used pre – experimental research with pre
– test and post – test design. It was conducted at the second semester of
Hamzanwadi University in the academic year 2018 – 2019. The sample consisted
of 17 students selected by using cluster random sampling. The data was collected
by using a video test. In descriptive statistic, the data was analyzed by using
frequency statistic and in testing hypothesis data was analyzed by using paired
sample t – test. The mean score of post – test (79.18) was higher than a pre – test
(34.12). The result of paired sample t – test indicated that there was a significant
difference in the mean scores between pre – test and post – test, t(df=16) = 45.06 at p
= 0.00. Based on the finding, it can be concluded that Snakes and Ladders Board
was significantly effective in teaching speaking.
