Abstract :
This study aimed at examining the effectiveness of communicative technique
to improve students’ university grammar in teaching speaking for EFL class. This
research use pre-experimental research with pre-test and post-test design. It was
conducted at the second semester of mathematic class at Hamzanwadi University
in the academic year 2018-2019. The samples consisted of 29 students selected by
using purposive sampling. The data was collected using oral test. In descriptive
statistics, the data was analyzed by using paired sample t-test. The mean score of
post-test (72.41) was higher than pre-test (33.10). The result of the paired sample ttest indicated that there was a significant difference in the mean score between pretest and post-test, t (df=28)=57.000 at p<000. Based on the finding, it can be
concluded that communicative technique was significantly effective in teaching
speaking.
