Abstract :
In this study the present researcher analyzed the students’ difficulties in
speaking English. The present researcher used a qualitative method with a case
study approach. Specifically, it analyzed what factors that student’ difficulties in
speaking English. In teaching and learning process, teachers should be more
creative in selecting an appropriate media that is suitable with the material, so that
the students can understand the material being taught. Based on the results of data
analysis, students’ difficulties in speaking English are unable to answer questions
using English due to lack of a large vocabulaty, their lack of confidence in
pronouncation makes them afraid to make a mistakes in English, the boredom that
students faced makes them not focused on the lesson the teacher explained. In
addition students difficulties faced during learning was fear of saying the wrong
sentence, misinterprenting vocabulary and sentence, less confident with the
limited vocabulary they have.
