Abstract :
This study aimed at knowing the extent and kinds of errors made by the students in
pronuncing English vowels. This study was categorized into a qualitative research. This
research was conducted at MA NW Sepit in the school year 2017-2018. The subject of this
study was 20 students. In collecting the data, the present researcher used observation,
interview and test. Technique of analyzing data of this study was qualitative. Based on the
result of the data analysis, the students’ error in pronuncing English vowels showed that the
students’ dominant error in pronounced word. This can be concluded that the majority of
students who uttered the sounds indicated satisfied number positive and negative. These
figures showed that the students still had difficulties in pronouncing English vowels.
Therefore, to help the students improve their pronunciation, the present researcher suggested
that they should be given a lot of drills and practices related to the pronunciation so that they
can acquire the habit of using the correct pronunciation of English words containing English
vowels correctly.
