Abstract :
This study aimed at examining the effectiveness of Scrambled Pictures in
teaching writing procedure texts for the eighth graders at MTs. Nurul Yaqin
NW Bual in the school year 2017 – 2018. The population was all of the eighth
graders which consisted of two classes (A class and B class), while the
sample was B Class which consisted of 17 students. The design of this study
was pre-experimental research design and the instrument was subjective test
in form of writing procedure texts by using Scrambled Pictures media. In
collecting the data, the pre-test and post-test was given to the students. Based
on the result of study the mean score of pre-test was 46.59 while in post-test
was 72.24 meaning that the mean scores of post-test was higher than pre-test.
Meanwhile in hypothesis testing by using Paired-Sample t-test, the present
researcher found that there was a significant difference in the mean scores
between the pre-test and post test, t(df=16) = 24.89 at p=.00, meaning that the
Scrambled Pictures media was significantly effective in teaching writing
procedure texts.
