Abstract :
This study aimed at examining The effect of brainstorming on reading
comprehension of narrative text for the eighth grade students of MTs NW
Ketangga Selong in the school year 2017-2018. The present researcher was
cattegorized to pre-experimental and took one the class as the sample there were
21 students in VIII as the experimental class. To collect the data, a pre-test and a
post-test were given to the students for the eigth graders. To analyze the data, the
present researcher applied SPSS 17 for windows. After counting the data, the
results of the data calculation showed that the mean score of experimental class in
pre-test was 14.10 and in post-test was 17.05. Meanwhile, the standard deviation
of the pre-test was 1.97 and post-test was 2.63. After submitting the data before
and after scores of 21 students in research class,the present researcher found that
was a significant scores the pre-test and the post-test, rtest  0.624, meaning that
the null hypothesis was rejected and the alternative hypothesis was accepted.
Brainstorming on narrative text was significantly effective in Teaching Reading
comprehension for the eighth grade students of MTs NW Ketangga Selong in the
school year 2017-2018.
