Abstract :
Reading comprehension, vocabulary and critical thinking were three
interrelated component. If the reader does not know the vocabulary then
impossible to understand the reading and if not understand the reading then how
can critical thinking. This research was focused on the correlation among
students’ vocabulary, critical thinking and their reading comprehension of the
fourth semester students’ of Study Program of English Language Education of
Hamzanwadi University in the academic year 2017-2018. This research was an ex
post facto quantitative research. The population was 103 students and sample was
19 students. The instruments used in this research were questionnaire with 10
items and multiple choice test with 30 items (18 items for reading comprehension
and 12 items for vocabulary). The present researcher used SPSS 22 for windows
to examine descriptive statistics and the coefficient correlation of the investigated
variable. The results of the research were (1) r = .656 at p < .002 for the
correlation between vocabulary and reading comprehension, (2) r = .537 at p<.018
for the correlation between critical thinking and reading comprehension, (3) r =
.803 at p<.000 for the correlation between vocabulary and critical thinking, and
(4) r = .708 at p<.001 for the correlation among vocabulary, critical thinking and
reading comprehension. Its mean that there was significant correlation among
students’ vocabulary, students’ critical thinking and their reading
comprehensionof the fourth semester students of study program of English
language education of Hamzanwadi University in the academic year 2017-2018.
