Abstract :
This research aimed at investigating the effectiveness of mind mapping
technique in improving students‟ writing of recount text. The design of this
research was a pre-experimental research with pre test and post test design. The
sample of this research was 33 of eleventh grade of MA. Muallimat NW Pancor
in the school year 2017-2018. The instrument was an objective test in form of
writing test. To test the hypothesis the data were analyzed by using descriptive
statistics and paired sample t-test. The present researcher found that the mean
score of the pre test was (3. 10) while the mean score of the post test was (3.
34), it means that there was difference in the mean scores between pre-test and
post-test, the mean score of the post-test was higher than the pre-test.
Meanwhile in hypothesis testing by using Paired-Sample t-test, the present
researcher found that there was significant difference in the mean scores
between the pre-test and post-test, t(df=18)= 20.78 at p=.00.This implies that
mind mapping technique was significantly effective in improving students‟
writing of recount text.
